Shell Tameer Business Mentoring Programme

The Covid-19 pandemic created an unusual challenge suddenly where Shell Tameer could not provide support to aspiring entrepreneurs through channels used traditionally. With face-to-face trainings and meetings no longer possible during the country lockdown in 2020, Shell Tameer quickly adapted to new norms. We transitioned to a virtual setting and designed activities like Shell Tameer Virtual Business Mentoring programme. This mentoring programme allowed entrepreneurs to make the best use of quarantined time to develop their business ideas.

The programme was open to all eligible young start-ups, where 39 entrepreneurs were enrolled from across Pakistan. After reviewing their application and mentoring requirements, they were carefully paired with a mentor from a group of Shell staff, industry experts and Shell Tameer alumni for 4 hours of one-on-one e-mentoring sessions. 15 mentees successfully completed the 8 week program sharing their experiences in the close out ceremony. One of the programme Mentors, Muhammad Waqas – CEO Wonder Tree said “As a mentor and Shell Tameer alumni, there is nothing more fulfilling than accompanying a group of enthusiastic entrepreneurs on their startup journeys. It allowed me to witness some truly enthusiastic and inspiring Pakistani innovators who are determined to succeed despite scarce resources and funds“

“Through the mentorship of CEO Wonder Tree Mr. Waqas, we were able to learn the essentials of a startup from business and project management perspectives. Introduction to grant writing, process of grant applications and business acceleration programs were the key outcomes achieved through Shell Tameer Business Mentoring platform.

We hope his valued experience and knowledge will enable us to meet our key deliverables and business goals” Said Umer Farooq- CEO “Boltay Huroof” and one of the Mentees.
